The Printing House by Equinox opened its rooftop pool today just in time for summer and 4th of July weekend. The pool boasts stunning views of the Hudson River, New Jersey, and the Statue of Liberty. The roof deck had been closed since Equinox took over the gym earlier this year and begun a multi-million dollar renovation project. The upper floors of the gym will remain closed for a few more months as the project is completed, but members can now enjoy the first floor gym and the roof deck. A few dozen people came out this morning to enjoy opening day and the beginning of the long weekend, but we expect the deck to be packed on Saturdays and Sundays. Employees were busy this morning placing trees and other fixtures, but the facilities were otherwise ready for use.
The roof deck will only be accessible by Printing House members as the facilities are not open to other Equinox members or the general public. However, members may bring two guests per year on a weekday or pay $50 per guest, per visit, thereafter. Our guess is that this will become the go to spot for West Villagers looking for a pool to lounge at on the weekends and perhaps a place to stealthily enjoy a home-made margherita while catching some sun. The club will also be a major amenity (for an additional cost of course) to the eventual purchasers of the 105 new condos that will eventually be sold in the building.
